No, Piper is not potty trained yet, but she did get some spiffy floaties for the pool! Daddy is her designated swim instructor for the summer, although she doesn't always trust his techniques. At our last trip to the pool she called out for her Aunt Jessie, even though she's been gone for a couple of weeks!

Bee-Beep!
Piper is quickly beginning to become more familiar with bodily functions lately. She can identify pee and poop, but I have yet to discover exactly what a bee-beep is. If someone passes gas in the house, she announces, "Mommy bee-beep!" One day she just randomly said, "Rah-rah bee-beep!" Uncle Ryan was not at our house and she quickly changed her subject. Now when I change her poopy diapers she calls them bee-beeps. I'm not sure what to believe anymore.
Piper's First Fishing Trip
Last weekend was free fishing in Missouri, an event my father-in-law never misses. Peter decided it would be a great time for Piper to have her first fishing experience. I should probably have Peter write the details, but the only reason I have time to do my blogging is because he is at scout camp, so my details will have to do. From what I heard, Piper had a blast with the exception of the first life vest she tried on, which crowded her neck. Once the smaller vest was on she was ready to go. Her favorite part was pretending to drive the boat. Peter, his mom and dad, and Piper caught about 29 bluegill, which we promptly ate for dinner that evening. The fish was so tastey my vegetarian sister even tried some! And liked it!
Those Toes!
Digital Stinkin' TV
As I am having my usual marathon of blog posting, Piper is watching cartoons on television. She should be watching Sesame Street except that our cheap government coupon purchased digital converter box is acting up...again. I am not exaggerating when I say every breeze, squirrel, car, or person that walks past the house or just past the box makes is lose its signal. It reminds me of the commercial they used to have on TV for Married with Children. The dad would say, "Assume Fox Cable positions!" They would all grab their respective pieces of foil antennae and pose around the couch in the appropriate positions to get the signal. This is exactly how I feel as I continually reposition my antennae in an effort to get a program to come through without it sounding like a broken record for a minute straight or reorganizing the tiny little squares on the screen to get the picture to catch up where it should be. I'll admit, today is worse because of the massive thunderstorm we are having, but normal calm days should give me a calm picture! Why, you say, don't I just order cheap cable or dtv? I'll tell you why! Because paying for television is not for me! This converter box might stink, but the programming is free free free! I have two babies, a house payment, students loans, gas and groceries to buy. The last thing I need is to spend money on television!
Bubbles!
One thing is for sure right now, Piper loves bubbles in any setting...in the bath, in a book, outside, inside, on television, you name it. Yesterday she didn't want to go to nursery at church. Peter always drops her off, so he decided to wait for the head nursery leader to get there. Well, when he arrived, she complained even more. That is until he pulled out the bubbles! Peter said Piper dropped him like a hot rock and scurried into nursery.
One thing that is not for sure is if Piper really likes getting a bath. I really think the bubbles are the only thing keeping her going right now. In fact, we ran out a few days ago. Peter tried to give her a bath without them. It was fine until Piper saw a piece of who knows what in the tub and thought it was an ant. She proceeded to throw the biggest tantrum she's thrown in a long time. We didn't take pictures of that.
The Knights Return
A few weeks ago our friends from college, Mac and Kristen, came over for a visit. Mac is the band director for Eudora High School and Kristen is the elementary music teacher at Eudora Elementary. When Piper was a newborn we were in Mac and Kristen's wedding. A few weeks later they came to visit during Piper's colicky time. Graci is just about the opposite of Piper as far as the noise level. Kristen decided she wants a baby like Graci. That's always a nice compliment.
I love how Mac and Kristen are always coordinated in their K-State purple. As you can see, we also like to put our guests to work helping us cook. Mac and Peter made an amazing fully loaded pizza. Piper enjoyed getting some extra attention and showed them some skills on her Super Trike. Shoulda taken a picture of that!
